We held an informal housing ceremony for our two newest apparatus, Engine 88 and Tower 88. We were joined by Township Commissioners Gary Scarpello, Cheryl Knight and Joseph Rudolph, as well as Fire Services Administrator Tim Schuck and Rabbi Jason Bonder, who offered a blessing of the trucks.
A housing is a long-standing tradition in the fire service that dates back to the days of horse-drawn equipment in the 1800s, when members had to push the equipment into the bay. After some comments by FWFC leadership, we “pushed” the trucks into the station 3 times, which included future FWFC members.
Following the housing, members and their families enjoyed dinner and dessert.
