To many people, Fort Washington Fire Company and the name George Haggar are synonomous. And, as it should be. George has been a member of the fire company for 70 years. He laid the cornerstone on the Summit Avenue station and he was the visionary behind the Fire Training Center.
On the evening of Monday, March 2, 2009, over 100 members of the FWFC, surrounding companies and family and friends of George Haggar fought off the winter storm to meet at the Summit Ave. station. A surprise ceremony was held to honor George, not only for his 70 years of service with the Fort Washington Fire Company, but also for being the vision behind our well-structured training facility. The training facility was, fittingly, officially renamed as the George Haggar Fire Training Center. View more information on the Fire Training Facility under the facilities tab of our website..
