Address signs should have letters that are at least four inches tall placed near the entrance and in a color that contrasts with the background.  Each unit of an apartment or other buildings with multiple occupancy should be marked with a separate number.  For a building that sits back from the main road, place the address on a post or mailbox at the entrance of the driveway.  If the driveway leads to several individual residences, place the addresses of all residences on the post or mailbox at the end of the main driveway.  Use a second sign with a directional arrow at the intersection of that driveway for each separate residence

Remember – the emergency may be yours!  Failure to provide clear marking of your address may be inviting disaster in the event of an emergency where precious seconds may mean the difference.  Take time and properly mark and maintain your address.
